Help, How do I add an immediate family member, or extended family or friend profile to my account?

To add an immediate family member (i.e. mom, dad, son, daugther), login to your account and select "Add An Immediate Family Member Account To Your Account" found under Manage member and profile accounts on the main profile page.

To add an extended family or friend profile, login to your account and select "Add A Friend or Family Profile To This Account" found under Manage member and profile accounts on the main profile page.

What is the difference between a 'Member' and 'Profile' Account?

What is WeAreSafeAndSound.com?
WeAreSafeAndSound.com is a global, 100%-free communications service available find and notify family and friends of one another's well-being and whereabouts in times of emergency or disaster.

How much does this service cost?
We Are... Safe&Sound service is FREE because our main focus is ensuring you, your family and friends have a reliable, easy-to-use service to communicate with the those who matter most when it matters most!

Providing our service free of charge allows you, your family and friends to proactively plan without worrying about a major financial investment. The last thing anyone should have to do is pay when trying to find out the well-being of their family and friends.

Will I need to buy additional hardware or software for WeAreSafeAndSound.com?
No. WeAreSafeAndSound.com is completely web based. All you need is a standard web browser like Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome or Firefox (all are free downloads) and access to the Internet.

How does WeAreSafeAndSound.com work?
Individuals and families are encouraged to proactively register and educate themselves about the importance of preventive emergency and disaster planning. Once registered, members are assigned a username and password, and a voicemail box extension.

It is recommended that immediate family members (e.g. mom, dad, daughter, and son) share an account so communications can be centralized. Members are able to add extended family/friend profiles to each member account. In the event of a man-made or natural disaster, members call their voicemail box via a toll-free number and leave a Safe&Sound message which email alerts are sent to immediate family members and family/friend profiles and associated to the account via email.

Members associated with the account call the same toll-free number, provide proper identification/user account credentials, to listen to messages. If you has internet access, you can submit a Safe&Sound notification and notify any member or profile associated to your account via email. In addition, the general public can search the database and be informed of individuals identifying themselves as Safe&Sound.

In addition, our staff travels to major (federal declared areas) emergency or disaster sites to assist in providing communication services via satellite phones and laptops with satellite internet access.

How easy is this service to use?
If you can use a phone or a pc well enough to navigate the internet, then you can use our service. If not, we have helpful demos to walk you through step by step as mentioned below.

Step 1. Register for a free account and tell your family and friends.

Step 2. Emergency or Disaster Happens (i.e. Tornado, Earthquake, Hurricane/Typhoon, Ice Storm, Blizzard, Wildfire, Fire, Flood, Tsunami, etc.)

Step 3. Call our toll-free hotline (CALL 1-866-584-1016) or login into your We Are... Safe&Sound web account. Leave a voice notification or submit an email notification.

Step 4. Family and friends search via our website, or listen to/view their respective notifications (be sure to have your Extension and Passcode handy) by calling our toll-free hotline (CALL 1-866-584-1016) or via email the person sent a notification.

What makes WeAreSafeAndSound.com's service unique?
The uniqueness of the WeAreSafeAndSound.com service model is that we provide an assortment of easy-to-use communication services at no cost to members.

There are many subscription-based communication and notification service providers offering the same level of service options we offer you and others. The difference between us and competitors is that providing our service free of charge allows you, your family and friends to communicate without worrying about a major financial investment. The last thing anyone should have to do is pay when trying to find and notify family and friends of one another's well-being and whereabouts in times of emergency or disaster.

One of the many value-add services we provide is an easy-to-use voice service. This voice service allows individuals to leave messages, send mass email alerts to friends/family associated with account, and check their messages via a personalized voicemail box.

Most persons being evacuated or displaced may not have a laptop, but a good percentage will have some form of voice access whether by landline, cell phone, or satellite phone. Just like it is encouraged to have an "ICE a.k.a. In Case of Emergency" application or number listed in your cell phone contacts, we encourage our toll-free number to be programmed into everyone's cell phone, too! In addition, we provide members with a small wallet card the size of a business card with their account information on it (i.e. Toll-Free 800#, Voicemail Extension, Name).

Why should I use WeAreSafeAndSound.com when I can easily use Twitter or Facebook?
For the most part, a good portion of our population is comfortable using a PC and phone.

But what about social media? True, one could use both Twitter and Facebook, but the reality is that a good percentage of family and friends do not or are not interested in either maintaining Twitter or Facebook accounts.

We provide a service that makes use of existing voice, email, and web behaviors that most persons have been familiar with using over the last 15 to 20 years. Nothing new to learn in regards to new user behaviors to utilize our service.

UPDATE: As of September 1, 2009, Twitter has been integrated, and now using your Twitter account you are able to submit a Safe&Sound notification and update your Twitter status at the same time.

What is considered an emergency or disaster?
The following are types of emergencies and disasters but not limited too: tornado, avalanche, flooding, typhoon, earthquake, tsunami, hurricane, ice storm, blizzard, wildfire, massive fires, terrorist acts, and mass transportation accidents.

What about the safety and security of my personal information?
WeAreSafeAndSound.com does not collect the following personal information: social security number, or credit card information. Registered members of WeAreSafeAndSound.com are reserved the right to not publicly display the following information: date of birth, address, phone, mobile, and email address. In addition, WeAreSafeAndSound.com's parent company, Ladder Jumpers, LLC, will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to a third party per our privacy and terms of use policy.

I found a pet displaced from an emergency or disaster. How do I register the pet as Safe&Sound?
Please use the Safe&Sound notification form for pets that have been displaced and found.

How do I remove Voicemail Advertising?
Remember, We Are... Safe&Sound service is FREE. To have voicemail advertising removed, you must subscribe to our annual voicemail advertising removal program which is billed annually at a recurring rate of $99.00. Funds received from this program help cover the necessary expenses in supporting the telephony and web hosting platforms without having to ask you and others for donations. To have voicemail advertising removed, please login and click the "Upgrade" button image ad on your "My Account" page.

What type of service coverage is offered?
We currently offer voice and on-site satellite services to those residents that live within the United States only.

We offer web service to global residents, and website translation can be found at the bottom of each web page.

We are continually working to establish a reliable, global presence for the timely notification of disasters on all service platforms.
